We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office! During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's needs, concerns, and orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.

Your initial appointment will consist of a series of photographs, two x-rays, a thorough examination by Dr. Cook, and a discussion of potential treatment options.  This important 1 hour visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs and is free of charge in order for you to obtain the information necessary to make the best treatment decision.

During the initial examination, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.  We encourage you to ask questions as well.

  • Is orthodontic treatment indicated?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used?
  • Do any baby or permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How much will insurance pay?
  • What are the payment options?

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance card.  By providing this information at the first visit, we will be able to give you an accurate breakdown of your costs.
  • A completely filled out medical and dental history form that you will receive in the mail in your new patient welcome packet.

We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we give patients the opportunity to start treatment the same day.  This allows you the convenience to combine what used to be several separate appointments.  If treatment is indicated, we have reserved time to take impressions to fabricate diagnostic models of the teeth and to place separators/spacers to put the braces on a week later.
