First Visit

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.

Your first orthodontic visit will consist of a series of photographs, two x-rays, a thorough examination by Dr. Cook, and a discussion of potential treatment options. During this important one-hour visit Dr. Cook will address your orthodontic needs to determine if this is the proper time to begin treatment. This first visit is complimentary to you.

We will address the following questions during this initial examination:

  • Is orthodontic treatment indicated?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used?
  • Do any baby or permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How much will insurance pay?
  • What are the payment options?

If you haven't already provided us with your orthodontic insurance information, please bring your insurance card with you to your first visit. By providing this information, we will be able to give you an accurate breakdown of your costs.

Also please bring your completed medical and dental history form that you will receive in the mail in your new patient welcome packet or you can download it here,

We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we give patients the opportunity to start treatment the same day. This allows you the convenience to combine what used to be several separate appointments. If treatment is indicated, we have reserved time to take impressions to fabricate diagnostic models of the teeth and to place separators/spacers to put the braces on a week later.
